Florence city is known for its culture, architecture, monuments and Renaissance art. The city also contains numerous museums and art galleries, such as the Uffizi Gallery and the Palazzo Pitti, it also exerts an influence in the fields of arts, politics and culture. Due to Florence’s artistic and architectural heritage, it was revealed by Forbes as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Florence also plays an important role in Italian fashion.

1.Ogle at David

He’s probably the most famous man in the city, seeing Michelangelo’s David is possibly one of the best things you can do in Florence. This is just the replica; to see the original head over to the Academia Gallery. Also, do well to notice the details of the work of art.

Make sure to look into David’s eyes, I hear his eyes are directly facing Rome.

2. Explore the Piazza Della Signoria

Pizza…..no, the piazza. Florence has a lot of generous pizzas to explore but there are some that really stand out. Piazza Della Signoria is one of them.

If history is your thing and you would love to see a glimpse of the city’s past, Piazza Della Signoria is the place. The piazza has been established over the years with many statues that has political connotations.

Some statutes to look out for are Perseus with the head of Medusa and the beautiful fountain of Neptune.

3. Explore the Cathedral

The cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flower, better known as the Duomo di Firenze, is the centrepiece of the city. The construction began at the end of the 13th century and took 2 centuries to complete it.

There’s a dress code to enter the cathedral complex. Shorts, short skirts and sleeveless shirts are not allowed; knees and shoulders should be covered at all times. Get comfortable walking shoes too.

4. Accademia Gallery

Known as the Gallery of Academy in Florence, it is an art museum and is best known as the home of Michelangelo’s sculpture, David.

There are more historic works of art in the Galleria dell’Accademia than you will find in most cities, this museum seems to be made specifically for David. It may interest you, there’s something utterly impressive about this piece of history and it’s definitely one of the must-sees in Florence.

5. Taste Gelato

Gelaterias will be competing for your pleasure after you’ve had a swell time in Florence, you can get the best from Vivoli.

Vivoli is one of the oldest and best gelato shops in Florence. They started producing their gelato back in the 1930s when ice had to be shipped down in blocks from the Apennine mountains.
