Designer Spotlight: Tosin Oshinowo
This is officially the third designer spotlight. The previous designer spotlight was on Cecilie Manz and the first spotlight was on Deniz Aktay. Don’t hesitate to read them via the links.
Today we’ll look at Tosin Oshinowo, a Lagos-based Nigerian architect and designer. She also doubles as a creative entrepreneur, a public speaker and author.
Tosin’s design philosophy:
Spontaneity speaks in a bold and confident tone.
Her designs are grounded in a deep respect for the Yoruba culture and history. Tosin was the curator of the 2023 Sharjah Architecture Triennial and has designed and worked on several projects in Europe and Africa.
Her garner for architecture stems from indicated interests from an early age. She also gave into self-discovery of her creativity, success in Technical Drawing and her ability to understand drawings at 12.
Tosin’s studio, Oshinowo Studio, is based in Lagos and has extensive work, including cultural, commercial, residential and pavilion venues.
