Ah, travel is back and the vibes are in the air.
You’ve scanned all through Instagram, watched loads of travel reels from your favourite travel influencers and saw a lot of buzz around exploring Africa.
You got convinced, you reserved a hotel of your choice (of course with a view), packed your bags (and that of your kids), got your Covid tests and other important stuff. But you forgot one thing…. What the hell are you going to eat, where are you going to eat? Not you this time, but your kids.
Oh boy. If you’re in that dilemma, I got you. Kids are great and sometimes they make us make bad restaurant choices when travelling so I curated 6 highly suggested family-friendly restaurants in Africa that will leave you as happy as our toddlers.
These places open at considerate hours and specialize in home cooking. Some of these restaurants’ menus have a special section dedicated to kids (did I just see you smile? Good I have your attention.)
They offer excellent values and are very price friendly, but most importantly, they are fun. Here comes the list.
1. Café Paradiso, South Africa.
Café Paradiso serves authentic Italian wood-fired pizza that’s made with 00 flour, fior de latte mozzarella and tomato passata, their pizza also has a gluten-free option.
The restaurant is engrained in family and they have long-held traditions and family values which is visible in their foods. You can (and will) tell from the enticing aroma that emanates from the bakery long before dawn.
Did I mention they are kids friendly? Not only are they kids’ friendly, they are also pet friendly and they are welcome wholeheartedly.

It’s located in the scenic surrounding of Nairobi’s Spring Valley and the restaurant boasts quality food and quality service.
Zen Garden seats 2 1/2-acre space and it holds 3 spacious enclosement — a patisserie, an event facility aid and a restaurant. The surroundings are inspired by the urban gardens of Asia.

Cactus has been around for 23 years and they are great for Sunday brunch, lunch and dinner.
It has four sitting areas- a café that sells pastries, the outdoor space, the main indoor space, and an extension of the main space that has a great view.
